Ahhh… sweet freedom one of the inhalable rights of man, or
so some of us like to think. We as humans do possess the right to feel and think any way we wish
as long as we are not directly or indirectly causing injury to another. Not an
unreasonable caveat, no?
Why this small musing on prerogative, privilege, profligacy?
I will tell you good readers. Got a message from someone stating, very kindly,
that they like to respond to all of their messages UNLESS you are from “Egypt,
Libya, Saudi or any similar country that tends to treat its women with disdain”.
Now my first thought was how rude. It is ok to have this preference, and to be
perfectly FRANK it seemed kind of logical (although painting with broad strokes
makes life canvas less interesting) but to put out there is such a way was kind
of high handed and preachy.
If a kindness is offered to some and not others due to some
perception based SOLEY on geographical origin is a bit de-evolved and unkind,
at least in my mind.
What do you think?
